About Yarra Walks

Pioneering Sustainable Adventure Tourism in Australia

Our Story

Founded in 2018 by wilderness enthusiasts and conservation advocates, Yarra Walks began as a dream to showcase Australia's most pristine landscapes while preserving them for future generations. What started as weekend camping trips along Melbourne's Yarra River evolved into comprehensive eco-tourism experiences across the continent's most breathtaking wilderness areas.

Our founders, Dr. Amelia Richardson and Marcus Aboriginal-Thompson, combined their expertise in environmental science and Indigenous cultural heritage to create authentic adventure experiences. After witnessing the devastating impact of mass tourism on fragile ecosystems, they committed to developing a new model of responsible travel that actively contributes to conservation efforts and supports Aboriginal communities.

Over the past six years, Yarra Walks has guided more than 3,000 adventurers through Australia's hidden gems, from the ancient rainforests of Tasmania to the sacred red rocks of Central Australia. Every expedition follows strict sustainability protocols while providing transformative experiences that connect travelers with Country, culture, and conservation.
